In accordance with the curriculum prepared by the College of Health and Medical Technologies, the Department of Optometry, in cooperation with the Departments of University Psychological Counseling and Student Activities, held a scientific seminar entitled: (The Use of Concurrent Phototherapy in Treating Certain Eye Diseases, specifically Strabismus and Amblyopia). The seminar took place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2026. The participants were:
1-Lect. Dr. Thu Al-Fiqar Ghani – Chairman.
2- Asst. Lect. Hussein Riyadh Sultan – Lecturer.
3- Asst. Lect. Tiba Shakir Hassan – Rapporteur.
The seminar addressed the use of concurrent phototherapy as a modern technique in treating certain eye diseases, particularly strabismus and amblyopia. This type of treatment depends on stimulating the visual system with carefully selected light signals, targeting to activate nerve cells and improve communication between the eye and the brain. The symposium indicated that concurrent phototherapy helps improve visual coordination and strengthen vision, especially in children and in the early stages of the disease. It is a non-surgical and safe treatment, and can be used alone or as a supportive treatment alongside traditional therapeutic methods, while emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and continuous medical follow-up.
