Department Mission
The department’s mission is to advance the profession of dental technology and strengthen its academic role by developing the field of Dental Technology in accordance with the latest scientific and technological developments. The department seeks to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills that enable graduates to apply these technologies efficiently in the fabrication of replacements for missing teeth, as well as maxillofacial prostheses and dental implants, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare provided to the community.
Department Objectives
The Department of Dental Technology aims to prepare specialized technical personnel capable of working efficiently in hospitals, health centers, and dental laboratories through enabling students to acquire the theoretical and practical skills required to perform all procedures related to the fabrication of fixed and removable dental prostheses, in addition to maxillofacial prostheses.
One of the department’s main objectives is to enhance the patient’s quality of life by restoring the smile of those who have lost it, increasing their self-confidence, and enabling them to regain dental functions with high efficiency comparable to natural teeth, thereby contributing to improving their overall health and psychological well-being.
The department also strives to graduate dental technicians who possess advanced technical skills and precise knowledge of dental materials, laboratory equipment, and methods of use, in addition to familiarity with different types of laboratories and their preparation and management methods. The department continuously updates its curricula and teaching methods in line with scientific and technological developments, particularly in light of the significant scientific and academic progress achieved by Sawa University.
Graduate Profile of the Department of Dental Technology
A graduate of the Department of Dental Technology is a specialized professional (Dental Technician) who works in dental laboratories to fabricate and fit dental prostheses and restorations, such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances, using advanced technical and professional skills while keeping pace with technological developments such as CAD/CAM and 3D printing.
Employment Opportunities
Government and private sectors: Working in hospitals, health centers, and dental clinics.
Dental laboratories: Designing and fabricating crowns, bridges, complete and partial dentures, and orthodontic appliances.
Maxillofacial prosthetics: Fabricating customized prostheses to replace missing parts of the face and jaws.
Orthodontic appliances: Preparing and fabricating removable and fixed appliances for orthodontic treatment.
