In accordance with the curriculum prepared by our university's administration, the Deanship of the College of Education, in cooperation with the Departments of University Psychological Counseling and Student Activities, held an awareness lecture entitled "The Role of Sports in Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism." The lecture took place at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2026, and was attended by:

1- Prof. Dr. Ghanim Najib Abbas - Chairman.

2- Sports journalist Nafeh Al-Fartousi - Lecturer.

3- Dr. Rateb Rahim Khader - Rapporteur.

The seminar emphasized that sports play a pivotal role in combating extremism by instilling values ??of cooperation, discipline, and respect for others, providing positive alternatives for youth, promoting mental and physical health, and building bridges of understanding between different cultures. This reduces the chances of being drawn into violence and extremist ideologies by providing a unified and shared environment for all. It also promotes positive values: sports teach discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and patience, values ??that contradict extremism. It also promotes social integration, as it brings together athletes from diverse backgrounds, breaking down social barriers and fostering understanding and acceptance of differences.
