The Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Performance at our university participated in the training course on ABET International Accreditation, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research—Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Apparatus (Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation / Accreditation Division)—in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities. The course was hosted at Al-Shaab University in Baghdad from October 8 to 9, 2025.
The training was attended by Prof. Dr. Yousra Mohammad Abdullah, Director of the Accreditation Division at the Ministry, alongside a distinguished group of accreditation board members across various disciplines, as well as directors of quality assurance departments and accreditation officers from Iraqi universities.
The curriculum featured specialized lectures delivered on the first day by Prof. Dr. Ammar Shaher Al-Hassan and on the second day by Prof. Dr. Waleed Salameh, Senior Advisor to the Association of Arab Universities. The speakers addressed the latest standards, requirements, and learning outcomes in accordance with updates from the international ABET organization, as well as the National Qualifications Framework, and the key challenges and opportunities in international accreditation.
The course concluded with interactive panel discussions enriched by constructive scientific inquiries and interventions from participants, fostering knowledge exchange and consolidating the principles of quality assurance and academic accreditation at the national level.
