The Department of Anesthesia Techniques holds a diverse celebratory festival
The University President, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Sarhan Muhammed, opened the celebratory festival organized by the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies in cooperation with the Department of Psychological and Educational Counseling at our university on the occasion of World Anesthesia Day.
The festival program included reading verses from the Holy Quran and reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for the memory of the martyrs of Iraq, Gaza and Lebanon. After that, the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Raheem Khadir, welcomed the attendees. This was followed by a speech by the Head of the Department, Dr. Dhiaa Yahya Azeez, who spoke about this festival, which is held on the occasion of World Anesthesia Day, and which emphasizes the importance of ensuring patients safety during anesthesia, enhancing continuous education and training for anesthesiologists and standardizing anesthesia to ensure the provision of the best possible care. There was also a historical lecture by Dr. Fadhil Abbas, who shed light on the origins of anesthesia, which dates back to 1846, the year that witnessed the first successful surgical operation using modern anesthesia in Boston, USA, where Diethyl ether was used in the operation. He then touched on the most prominent stages that this science has gone through, leading to the great technological revolution it has achieved in recent years, referring to its importance in providing the best possible care for patients and ensuring their safety.
The festival also included distributing educational health publications to students, holding a health poster exhibition, and the department's students presented an educational theatrical work on how to anesthetize patients in ancient and modern times. The festival was attended by the Assistant of the University's President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Turki Muftin Saad Al-Ardi, the Assistant of the University's President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Safaa Mustafa Hameed, the Administrative and Scientific Assistants of the Dean, and a large number of faculty members and students.
