In achieving of the cooperation agreement between our university and Al-Muthanna University, the College of Education and the department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at our university, in cooperation with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - Al-Muthanna University, held an intellectual symposium on (The Role of Sport in Rapprochement between Religions and the Promotion of Peaceful Coexistence and National Unity) at the Great Central Conference Hall.
Lecturers: Prof. Dr.. Haider Balash Jaber - Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - Al-Muthanna University.
Session chairman: Prof. Dr.. Ghanem Najeeb Abbas - Director of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at Sawa University.
Session Supervisor: Asst. lect. Afrah Sofi Abdel-Hussein - Department of English.
The researcher presented a valuable lecture on the role of sport in rapprochement between religions and the promotion of peaceful coexistence and national unity, benefiting from his experience as a former player and champion of Iraq in the sport of athletics. He built a strong relationship during his experience. He shed light on how sport united the Iraqi peolpe during the participation of our Iraqi national team in the Asian Nations Championship, and crowning it as its champion, after the abhorrent sectarian conflicts that almost ravaged the country. At the end of the symposium, the discussion was opened for the attendees, and the lecturer answered their questions and inquiries.
